Craniofacial Surgical Emergencies Course

Hands-on Cadaver Workshop

Thursday, 19. November 2026
08:00–13:00

Institute of Anatomy
University of Basel

This intensive workshop provides hands-on cadaver training in the management of time-critical craniofacial and neck emergencies.

Participants will gain practical experience in surgical airway management (cricothyroidotomy, tracheotomy, and submental intubation), hemorrhage control and vascular injury management (vascular access, temporary vascular shunting, nasal packing and tamponade), orbital decompression for compartment syndrome and ocular emergencies.

Additional immersive VR-based case discussions will provide scenario-based training and enhance clinical decision-making in emergency situations.
